Caring Heart for Kids
Lewiston, Maine, United States
I work in a Title I school and some of our families don't have enough money to provide basic necessities to their family. I am starting a "closet" where I will have items like shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, backpacks, coats, ski pants, etc. for those in need.

Project Story

I am passionate about my students and although I am meeting their educational needs, most of them don't have their basic needs met, which interferes with their education. Some of them may be anxious not knowing if they'll have dinner that night, or if they'll have the soap and shampoo they need to be able to get clean and go to school without an odor. (Kids can be mean and in our school many of them get picked on because they don't smell clean.) I want them to be able to come to school and not be worried about their basic needs being met so they can focus on their learning. I want this to be a safe, loving, caring environment for them. Please help them if you are able and may God bless you all!
